This is the year where I finally get serious about finding some proper hearing protection for live music. For ages, I've let convenience rule for this need, bringing a pair of my typical sleepytime earplugs to shows (those stunning orange foam 3Ms that can be bought in bulk for peanuts), fully aware that I would be getting a muffled audio experience for wearing them. So how to choose a proper pair of high fidelity earplugs then? HearAdvisor has been a helpful resource. Sort dozens of independently tested options in order to compare tradeoffs between sound level attenuation, perceived loudness reduction and sound quality to your personal preference against what you're comfortable paying.

Naturally, high fidelity earplugs are nice to have on hand for all settings where prolonged noise exposure is a concern, or even just a nuisance. (Someone please explain to me why so many movie theaters have decided that their screenings must be loud enough to be heard clearly at a rifle range.)
